What Are They? If you missed the conference in Minneapolis, or if you missed the Consulting and Independent Contracting SIG progression on lots of interesting topics regarding consulting and independent contracting, you're in luck! The Consulting and Independent Contracting SIG is excited to announce a series of short (1 hour) audio-only conference calls covering the topics discussed during the CIC SIG progression at the conference. Your only cost is the toll for the call. You will also receive a copy of the relevant handouts distributed at the conference.

February 26, 2008: Winning Work: Managing and Coordinating Proposals

Many of us bring the skills to support, coordinate, and/or manage preparation of formal proposals. We help our clients win contracts to provide products or services in response to solicitations. The challenge is to become oriented to the “language” and processes of proposals in order to sell our value. The topic will help participants get started in matching their skills against those required for proposal and grant work (“An Encouraging Exercise"). Judith will share her top ten lessons learned from working on proposals for more than 15 years and will also share a short annotated reference list.

Judith Herr brings 20+ years experience managing and contributing to large and small proposal efforts. “Wins” for clients resulted in rewarding contracts with DOE, EPA, NASA, NIH, and Kaiser Permanente. After 10+ years with SAIC, a very large high-tech consulting firm, she formed Well Chosen Words. She is the STC SIG Advocate and an STC Fellow. Judith currently is running for the position of Director on the STC Board.

Judith’s range of experience encompasses work in information technology; management; occupational/public health; medical, biological, and environmental sciences; adult education; fund-raising for nonprofit organizations; and community development. Her international experience includes living three years in Belgium, three years in Malaysia, and extended travel in Asia and Europe.
