The ES&H SIG has opportunities for you as a Board Member
We still need members to fill the following Board positions
SIG Manager
Diana Barkley has graciously agreed to stay on as the Interim SIG Manager until someone volunteers to step into her shoes, but she is looking forward to being able to hand over the position to a person who has more time! The SIG Manager's duties include:
- Leading and managing the SIG, including communications via the SIG Web site, newsletter, and e-mail discussion group
- Presiding over the annual SIG business meeting and coordinating with the SIG board the promotion of the SIG at the annual STC conference
- Approving operating expenses toward the SIG budget
- Submitting quarterly reports (using a form) to STC
- Representing the SIG and interacting with other SIG managers via the SIG leaders e-mail list and the STC SIG coordinator
Membership Manager
We'd like to thank Beth Keena, the retiring Membership Manager, for her many years of excellent service. Therefore, the Membership Manager position is open and we are looking for a volunteer to step forward and perform the following duties:
- Send a welcome e-mail to new SIG members each month and update the welcome e-mail based on input from the SIG Manager, as needed
- Keep a current roster of SIG members (e-mailed monthly from STC headquarters in xls.format)
- Provide information on membership data (counts) fo the SIG Manager
- Communicate with other SIG officers about matters affecting the SIG
- Send e-mails to the entire SIG membership on rare occasions, as needed
Web Manager
The Web Manager position is open and we need an experienced (or eager-to-learn) volunteer to update the Web site. Bonnie Yelverton has agreed to come back as Interim Web Manager, and will be pleased to help you learn to do the few tasks needed to update the site.
- Once a year with the annual conference information.
- Once a year when the new board is announced.
- As requested by the board.
- If you have the skills and time to do even more with the site, we'll be delighted to discuss your ideas with you, and support you in their implementation.
Would you like to help?
You still have time to invest in your SIG by nominating yourself or someone else, with their permission or knowledge of course. Please contact the Nominating Committee if you wish to serve as the SIG Manager, Membership Manager, or in a smaller capacity; we'd be happy to discuss other opportunities in the SIG with you. STC has an extremely supportive SIG Advocate and a SIG Leaders group that will help you succeed through sharing information in conference calls and a wiki.
