I took over our SIG's newsletter in May 2005, but the publication of the first
issue was delayed until the beginning of 2006.
I have had a lot of experience with newsletters, inside and outside of
STC.
- I managed the STC
Newsletter Competition for four years (2000 to 2004).
- In the late 1980s, I was a
contributor and editor of a department newsletter called
the Sentinel (circulation 60).
- In the 1990s, I edited the
STC Phoenix Chapter newsletter, the Rough Draft,
four times (circulation as high as more than 400).
- In the late 1990s, I
edited another department newsletter, Tech Talk
(circulation 4000).
- I've also helped with
local chapter newsletters for DAMA (data management
organization) and The Institute of Internal Auditors ( IIA).
- Awards the STC chapter
newsletters have won include two Distinguished Awards, one
Merit Award, and one Achievement Award. The department
newsletter won an Excellence Award in STC's International
Technical Publications Competition.
I am a long-time volunteer
for the Society and an associate fellow. I am currently
running for Society secretary.
