STC Election Closes March 31
From Tieline, January, 2006
Community leaders are urged to remind their members that the STC election closes at 12 noon on March 31, earlier than in previous years. The closing date was moved up to allow winning candidates more time to plan for the conference and prepare for their first board meeting.
Only members who have paid their dues by February 28, 2006, will be eligible to vote. An option on the dues renewal forms and new membership applications for 2006 allows members to receive their election materials via e-mail. In March, members who selected this option will be e-mailed the slate, candidate biographies, and voting instructions. Members who did not select this option will receive these materials by first-class mail.
Conference: Complimentary Membership
From Tieline, January, 2006
Nonmembers who register at the full conference rate for STC’s 53rd Annual Conference, to be held May 7–10, 2006, in
Las Vegas, Nevada, will be invited to join STC—free—for the remainder of 2006. The STC office will include an
application for a complimentary membership with the conference registration confirmation receipt letter.
A nonmember can return an application to the Society office by mail or fax; a drop box will also be available at the on-site conference registration desk. The deadline to return the application to the STC office by mail or fax is June 30, 2006. The sooner nonmembers forward their applications, the sooner they can take advantage of STC services and benefits.
STC Solicits Member Input
From Tieline, January, 2006
I n early January, STC will invite members to submit feedback on topics scheduled to be discussed at the next meeting of the Society board of directors, January 26-8, in Atlanta, Georgia. The feedback will be collected via the STC Web site. A synopsis of member input will be shared with the board and posted on the members-only section of the Web site.
An e-mail will be sent to all members explaining the purpose of this initiative. This method of gathering information will become a regular practice prior to all future board meetings. Please encourage your members to take advantage of this opportunity to participate in shaping STC’s future.
990 Form Available on STC.org
From Tieline, January, 2006
STC has posted its 2004 IRS 990 form to the STC Web site at
www.stc.org/about/990stc01.asp. The form includes information on revenues, expenses, and
changes in fund balance. Recent changes in reporting laws require nonprofit organizations to make their 990s
available for inspection by the public. Posting the 990 form simplifies this process
and is in keeping with the board’s desire for more openness and transparency in
communication with members.
