As instructional designers, we hear the words "online
learning" more and more. In the simplest terms, online learning is
any form of instruction via a computer. It can be a simple web page that
lists instructions or a highly interactive "online" course with
streaming video, chat, and interactive components. Computer-based training
(CBT), Web-based training (WBT), and e-learning are all forms of online
learning. In this issue of IDeaL: Design for Learning, our members
share their research, experience, and resources about online learning
including:
Ways to Engage Online Learning Audiences
Implementing Online Learning: One Company's Experience
E-Learning Tools and Technologies
In addition you'll find the information and resources on ID you've come
to expect in IDeaL: Design for Learning. In this edition, we have
the following tip and a book review:
The Complete Development Cycle
Rapid Instructional Design
You will also find several new sections such as the SIG and Society
