The following default messages are provided for reference. These are actual messages from the Central New York chapter list, prior to customization of the Welcome message.

Notes are added to some messages, in [[double square brackets]].

Confirmation message

Mailing list subscription confirmation notice for mailing list Stc_cny

We have received a request from nn.nnn.nn.nnn for subscription of your
email address, "admin@annlwiley.com", to the stc_cny@mailman.stc.org
mailing list.  To confirm that you want to be added to this mailing
list, simply reply to this message, keeping the Subject: header
intact.  Or visit this web page:

Or include the following line -- and only the following line -- in a
message to stc_cny-request@mailman.stc.org:

    confirm [[number here]]

Note that simply sending a `reply' to this message should work from
most mail readers, since that usually leaves the Subject: line in the
right form (additional "Re:" text in the Subject: is okay).

If you do not wish to be subscribed to this list, please simply
disregard this message.  If you think you are being maliciously
subscribed to the list, or have any other questions, send them to
stc_cny-owner@mailman.stc.org.

Welcome message (default for CNY STC)

Welcome to the Stc_cny@mailman.stc.org mailing list!

If you ever want to unsubscribe or change your options (eg, switch to
or from digest mode, change your password, etc.), visit your

You can also make such adjustments via email by sending a message to:

with the word `help' in the subject or body (don't include the
quotes), and you will get back a message with instructions.

You must know your password to change your options (including changing
the password, itself) or to unsubscribe.  It is:

Normally, Mailman will remind you of your mailman.stc.org mailing list
passwords once every month, although you can disable this if you
prefer. This reminder will also include instructions on how to
unsubscribe or change your account options. There is also a button on
your options page that will email your current password to you.

Welcome message used by CNY STC

Welcome to Stc_cny@mailman.stc.org, the discussion list of the Central
New York Chapter of STC.

You can find information about the list, and change your settings at:

You can scroll down and unsubscribe at this page, but please do not!
Please stay on the list and watch for announcements from the Central
New York STC chapter.

You can scroll down and change your settings too. For example, you can
set yourself to receive the digest containing all the messages posted
to the list for the day.

You can also disable mail delivery, which you must do when you are
going away so your autoreply will not reach people who post to the
list. Sometimes administrators make this change for you. If that
happens, when you return you can enable delivery again.

To change your settings (including your password), you need your
password. The system generated one for you, and it is:

Mailman has a button to click to have a password reminder emailed to
you.
