Where Are We Now?

Hi Karen, I am a new member of this SIG. Is there a new URL for the Hyperview site? I can't find it.

Thanks for your time!
Tracee Ross
Sacramento Chapter

Hi Tracee,

There's been a lot of confusion in the past few days about where Hyperviews is. The STC has changed its web site addresses effective 4/1/2001. That's right, the ultimate STC April Fools!

STC combined www.stc.org and www.stc-va.org, but it also put the SIG Web sites at a different address: www.stcsig.org

Confused yet?

Anyway, Hyperviews is now at www.stcsig.org/oi/hyperviews
Hopefully, we will be at this address for a long time to come.

Incidentally, the site structure under the hyperviews directory remained the same. If you have a bookmark to a favorite article, just change the portion of the Web address before "hyperviews"."

And How Far We've Come

The Online SIG newsletter is so impressive. I remember when we started the SIG and the newsletter. Our first issue of Hyperviews was done in print because not enough SIG or STC members had email or Internet access! A year or so later, we did manage to convert some of the issues to Windows Help and distribute them via the Internet. Today, you have reached the vision Cheryl Lockett-Zubak and I had those not-so-many-years-ago. Congratulations on your recent Award of Excellence. I am proud to have played a small part in making this resource possible.

Mary Deaton
Founding Member of the Online Information SIG

Thanks, Mary! I remember when I received the first issue of HyperViews (as it was called back then). Even though it was hardcopy, it was still exciting to hear from other technical communicators who were working through the same online information problems as myself. The Hyperviews:Online staff is delighted to serve the community you helped start.
