| Challenges |
This issue of Hyperviews:Online focusses on some of the more difficult challenges faced by technical communicators in Online Information. Our first feature examines the pitfalls of designing and developing an HTML Help system that must be translated. As many of us have learned, translation issues can cause real headaches in the development process. Our other feature discusses United States copyright law and how it applies to online media. This aspect of law is changing as the technology changes, and we are challenged to keep up with our legal responsibilities as well as understand them. Finally, check out Nancy Allison's review of "Teach Yourself RoboHelp 2000 For HTML Help in 24 Hours." This book, as well as Nancy's observations, might help you through the challenge of learning RoboHTML. |
| What Happened to the Fall Issue? |
The fall issue of Hyperviews:Online fell prey to my masters defense and other life challenges. I deeply appreciate the patience displayed by Scott DeLoach and the volunteer staff. It's a new year and the masters is complete, so I should have no excuses for 2001. Now, let's just hope I haven't just jinxed myself! With this new year, we also have a change in our staff. Judy Fisher, who has been assistant editor for the past 2 years, is leaving us to spend as much time as possible with her baby daughter. We will miss her very much! Thank you, Judy, for all your sound advice and steadying hand. Christy Capps, who helped out during 2000, is now a full assistant editor with Hyperviews:Online. We're excited about Christy joining us full-time. Be sure to check out her feature article on copyright law. |
