Don't Forget to Join!

I am pleased to announce that the SIG now has over 5,000 members. If you are a new member, welcome to the SIG! And, thanks to everyone who has stuck with the SIG. If you forgot to rejoin the SIG when you returned the membership form, you can always complete the SIG sign-up form (hint hint!). Just go to http://www.stc-va.org/PDF_Files/sigform.pdf to download it.

Want to Pitch In?

Do you want to get involved in the SIG? We have numerous open positions, and we would love to have some help. Karen _is_ super-human, but she can't do everything! Here's a list of positions. Please give it a thought.

Event & Conferences editor
Updates the listing of International, national, regional events of interest to SIG members. (Estimated amount of time: 1 hour/month)

Glossary editor
Coordinate and maintain a glossary of Online Information terminology. (Estimated amount of time: 2 hours/month)

Archives editor
Abstract and link back issue articles in the same format as the Print Hyperviews issues. Once the past 3 volumes are done, apply the same treatment to each new issue. (Estimated amount of time: 2 hours/month)

Columnist
Write (or have others write) one article/quarter focused on a specific area of online communication. We are open to suggestions, but some potential columns could be:

  • HTML-based Help
  • Web technologies
  • Online design
  • Various product tips and tricks
  • Web site reviews (pick a site and review it)
  • Acrobat
  • Multimedia.

Got an idea? Send me an e-mail at scott@userfirst.net. We are also looking for articles for our next issue (articles are due by March 31st). Hyperviews:Online is your chance to reach over 5,000 online information developers!

Got an idea? Want to volunteer? Send me an e-mail at scott@userfirst.net.

In Your Neighborhood

As many of you know, over 20 chapters have a local Online SIG. If your chapter doesn't have an Online SIG and you want to start one, let me know. I would really like to help-especially with non-US chapters. I know you're out there! And for all you chapter-level Online SIG leaders -- Thanks for all of your hard work!

Return to Home Page Scott DeLoach is the Manager of the Online Information SIG. He loves to receive e-mail about the Online SIG at scott@userfirst.net.
