Letter from the Editor

It’s all about you, the OISIG.

By KAREN MOBLEY
Managing Editor - Hyperviews:Online
Carolina Chapter

A hope for
Prayers and comfort to those in loss,
Strength and wisdom to those who decide,
And peace to all of us, everywhere.

Conference Convergence

The STC conference in Chicago was amazing for the Hyperviews:Online staff. We heard from SIG members, readers of Hyperviews:Online, and other friends in the STC. Scott and I took notes while we heard great suggestions for the future of Hyperviews:Online. I know that the Online Information SIG members are the reason Hyperviews:Online excels. Your ideas and insights have made Hyperviews:Online an award-winning newsletter.

Please, keep it coming!

Your Voice

We're looking for remembrances of your first encounter of the World Wide Web. What did you think when you heard about it? How did you react? Did it change your job immediately? Or trickle in unsuspectingly? Send us your anecdotes so the Hyperviews:Online staff can compile a retrospective of our profession and the advent of the WWW.

Your Vote

In this issue, we introduce the OISIG poll on the Hyperviews:Online homepage. Scott and I ask a question that we suspect the OISIG membership wants to answer. If you have suggestions for future questions, tell Scott or myself.

Check Out the Post-Conference Edition

Hyperviews:Online publishes a pre- and post-conference edition of the Spring issue. The post-conference edition is available, but we didn't send out the e-mail notice. Be sure to check out the articles that published in the post-conference edition! The article about Section 508 is particularly important and timely for the OISIG!

Changing Staff

We wish to thank Val Henken for helping out as the Assistant Glossary Editor. We really appreciate her contribution and wish her well as she starts a new job.

If you are interested in working on the Hyperviews:Online Glossary, please let me know. As the glossary grows, it will become an excellent resource for students and new professionals in online information.
