Atlanta chapter

We Want You... ...to volunteer, of course!

We have a number of positions open in the SIG. Many of them do not require a big commitment -- but we can't do it without you. Please take a second to check out our open positions listed below.

Annual Conference Team Members

The Annual Conference team will be responsible for planning our activities at this year's annual conference. We need one person to lead the team and probably 2-5 team members to:

  • determine what we want to do at the conference (banquet, exhibit hall table, etc.)
  • seek corporate sponsorship if needed
  • select our SIG member "badge" (pin, ribbon, or other item)
  • design and coordinate T-shirts to be sold at conference

Ready for the challenge? Looking for excitement? Then e-mail me!

Hyperviews Team Members

Ready to share your knowledge with thousands of your peers? Or, looking for some HTML experience for your resume? THIS IS YOUR CHANCE!!!

We are always looking for Hyperviews:Online authors. If you are working on an online project (and I know you are!) then you have something to share. We welcome technology overviews, case studies, book reviews, web site critiques, and tips and tricks. Whether you're a novice looking to share your new user experience with a tool or a web guru with a Java applet to brag about, we're ready to hear from you!

Looking for something "behind the scenes?" Don't worry, we need you, too! We are looking to fill the following positions:

assistant editor - responsibilities include coordinating submissions from authors and columnists, seeking new submissions, and tagging articles as needed. Sign me up!

proofers - your chance to see the issue before anyone else! Proofers copy edit the issue and make sure that different browsers aren't causing problems. When can I start?

taggers - "You want tables with that?" Volunteering to tag articles is a great way to get some HTML experience. All you need is an HTML editor and a desire to learn. I can do that!

Membership Database Team Members

One of our goals for this year is to create an online member database. We need 2-5 membership database team members to:

  • manage the membership list from the Society office
  • send me a monthly list of new members
  • obtain permission from members to be listed
  • create and maintain the online database and web page(s)

The membership database will be a great example of a web-based application and would make a great portfolio sample. Remember, not everyone on the team has to be a web expert! Want to help? Contact me!
