Online indexing

As always, the issue is well done - both content and presentation. Seth Maislin's article is particularly timely as I've been trying to explain to new-to-online writers how online indexes differ from paper-based ones. Seth's article hits the proverbial nail on the head.

Thanks again,

About those heuristics. . .

I read your article "What I did on my summer vacation." Where and when will your group publish these heuristics? We'd love to have a copy.

Member, STC-Intermountain Chapter

Hi Delores:
The heuristics are being compiled and written by professors on the faculties of the University of Washington and the University of Twente, Netherlands. We graduate students are the hamsters taking the heuristics for a spin and reporting back to the professors on any problems in the heuristics. I am not at liberty to pass my copies of these heuristics to anyone. As I understand it, once completed the heuristics will be published in a special issue of the STC Journal "Technical Communication." I suspect that would happen sometime in 2000.

Thanks for your interest in the heuristics, and thanks for reading Hyperviews:Online!
