STC Annual Conference, May 7 to 10, Las Vegas
April 17, 2006. The Online SIG will have a table at the Welcome Reception on Sunday evening, May 7 and tables at the networking luncheon on Tuesday May 9. Don't miss these opportunities to meet face-to-face with other members of the Online SIG.
Online communication is a theme throughout the conference. The keynote speakers are Internet pioneers, Vinton Cerf and Robert Kahn. In the early 1970s, they designed transmission-control protocol (TCP) and Internet protocol (IP), Without standards that establish how dissimilar computer networks talk to each other, there could be no Internet and no online communicaion as we know it.
Many online communication-related sessions are highlighted in "2006 STC Conference at a Glance" (PDF), which shows the conference sessions on six pages with hyperlinks to the session descriptions on the STC website.
