About Us

STC’s Policies and Procedures Special Interest Group, founded in 1993, is the world’s largest and longest existing group dedicated to the discipline of policies and procedures communication. Our membership consists of more than 1100 (5%) members from within the Society for Technical Communication. It is now the world’s only non-profit group of professionals dedicated to this specialty. Our mission

The Policies and Procedures SIG provides opportunities for its members to (a) develop their expertise in and (b) promote the discipline of policies and procedures communication through networking, presentations, publications, and professional support.

 

Our activities

The activities of the Policies and Procedures SIG include the following:

• publishing our newsletter, Direction
• sponsoring sessions on policies and procedures at STC Annual Conferences
• hosting a listserv forum for members to seek assistance and discuss issues on our specialty
• hosting a Web site with resources, contacts, an archived newsletter, and more
• referring members to each other with common interests in policies and procedures, such as by industry, subject, function, and geographic location
• announcing publications and events related to policies and procedures
• responding to requests for information about policies and procedures communication and on developing one’s expertise in this specialty
