Raymond E. Urgo, Immediate Past SIG Manager

Raymond E. Urgo, principal of Urgo & Associates, is an internationally recognized management consultant specializing in policies and procedures communication. He consults to organizations on best practices for developing policies and procedures information to improve learning and organizational performance. He coaches policies and procedures specialists and technical communicators in succeeding in their careers and projects.

Raymond developed and teaches the world's first Web-based, continuing education course on policies and procedures available internationally through UCLA Extension. He holds the membership rank of Fellow in the Society for Technical Communication where he founded and now manages the Policies & Procedures Special Interest Group. Raymond is a speaker and author on his specialty; and has served as a lead judge in publications competitions involving policies and procedures documents.

Prior to founding his policies and procedures consulting practice in 1993, Raymond advanced into leadership positions involving business systems and procedures at major corporations in New York City and Los Angeles. He hold degrees with academic honors from Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh.
