DocQment, newsletter of the STC Quality SIG, March 2002.

A Newbie Takes On the Newsletter

I was checking out the list of STC SIGs on a Tuesday last month. Found the Quality SIG and thought it might be interesting. By Thursday, I was newsletter editor! STC is great for offering such opportunities.

I'm a newbie to the Quality SIG but not to quality. I have always focused on trying to be the best at whatever and do, and to deliver quality work and materials. I remember one guy I was doing some work for giving me a "Quality starts here" button.

Getting Started

I've produced newsletters before for the Houston Chapter but those were print versions. With DocQment, the newsletter committee and I have the opportunity to bring DocQment to you online. The committee includes Suzanne Cole as Design/Layout Editor and Rosie Walker as Copy Editor.

This first online edition of DocQment is our "reconstruction issue." We wanted to get the newsletter in production as soon as possible. Don Lenk, the SIG webmaster, created us a newsletter page similar to the other pages and we were able to pull together some basic content to get us going.

What's Ahead

We will be publishing DocQment quarterly: in March, June, September, and December. For the June issue, we plan to have a new design for the newsletter page.

We welcome your feedback on the newsletter and ask that you let us know your ideas for future issues. Any ideas on articles and, especially, any article submissions are welcome. Please email in Word format to jeffstaples1@yahoo.com
