DocQment, newsletter of the STC Quality SIG, June 2002.Quality SIG Manager's ColumnWe've had a great response from many Quality SIG members since March as we have attempted to revitalize this group. Thanks to so many of you who have been participating actively in the online discussion group, those of you who volunteered to write FAQs for our web page, and those who continue to serve in leadership positions in the SIG (newsletter team, listserv team, membership manager, and webmaster to name a few). Each of us doing a little bit can add up to a lot of good work! We will be continuing to post quarterly updates to our newsletter on our SIG home page. We are looking for appropriate content, so please consider publishing with us by writing a book review of a book or article related to quality, writing an article about a real-life experience you have had trying to improve quality, or interviewing someone you feel could be a mentor for others in the area of quality. Some of you attended the STC Annual Conference in Nashville in May. I'd love to hear some trip reports from those of you who go. Post them on the discussion group, or send me a note at lorif@us.ibm.com. We'll try to include some trip reports in the next newsletter so that all of us can share in the knowledge gained by those who were able to attend this year. If any of you have additional ideas about activities you'd like to see us, as SIG members, undertake, please drop me an email. I'll be continuing to think about how we can best collectively help each other improve the quality of technical communication. Lori Fisher |
