Member Profile:
Beth Chaput

Occupation:

Quality Assurance Contractor

Whether anyone knows for sure why some people seem to advance in work responsibilities, and others do not, is unclear. Beth did. She was hanging around as a computer operator, when next thing she knew, she was working in course development. She went from there, to computer-based training. She was content in that field. Yet she took her career to another level, and entered into quality assurance (QA). Before long, she advanced to the managerial level.

She appreciates the knowledge she accumulated during the last twenty years. Still, the call of instructional design begs her to investigate the possibilities. To better prepare herself for the change, she is pursuing her Master’s degree at a Boston university.

As agile in fitness as in her career, Beth enjoys strenuous non-combative sports and working out. By the time she finishes her degree, she hopes to “…offer my services in QA, web design, and online instruction through my own company.” And, she continues, “I'd like to work with educational software companies and/or in health-related fields.”

A newlywed with one young daughter and two dogs, she has much to look forward to in the way of family life. Walks on the beach at sunset, and a quiet glass of wine later, bring out the romantic facet of her personality. No culinary red meat for her meals – although she likes it – because quite simply, “I like cows.” And as a sincere compassionate person herself, she appreciates those who possess the same qualities.
