Newsletter Information

This page contains a list of production deadlines, rules and guidelines for submitting articles, information on reprinting or linking to newsletter articles, and a list of newsletter staff members, including a link to contact the Managing Editor.

Production Schedule

DocQment is published quarterly in March, June, September, and December.

The deadlines for submissions are:

Bullet point     March – Submit by February 1.

Bullet point     June – Submit by May 1.

Bullet point     September – Submit by August 1.

Bullet point     December – Submit by November 1.

Submissions

DocQment welcomes article submissions that focus on the Quality SIG mission statement:
"To help members learn more about quality processes and quality assessments to improve their technical communication, and to share knowledge of these improved processes with other technical communicators worldwide."

Email the DocQment managing editor, Charla Mustard-Foote (charla@charla.com), if you want to discuss topic ideas or review your topic before submitting.

Articles may vary in length. Here are some estimates for article word counts and some guidelines for submitting your article.

Bullet point     Minimum length: 500 words.

Bullet point     Maximum length: 1000 words.
Longer articles accepted with special permission of the managing editor.

Bullet point     Pictures: You may imbed graphics in your text file, but please also submit them as separate JPEG or GIF files.
Note that JPEGs must have the full four-letter extension (.jpeg) for compatibility with non-Microsoft platforms and browsers.

Bullet point     Text format: Word, RTF, or ASCII.

Bullet point     All submissions will be edited for length, clarity, and appropriateness.

Bullet point     Include the word count with your submission and a brief bio statement.

Reprints and Links

You may reprint original material from DocQment, as long as you acknowledge the source and send the managing editor a copy or the URL of the publication containing the reprint.
