American Medical Writer's Association (AMWA)
The association's mission is to promote excellence in medical communication. Offers resources, conferences, self-education, and members-only job postings, salary information, and other benefits.
Board of Editors in the Life Sciences (BELS)
Provides a certification test for life sciences editors. Also has an extensive list of resources and provides a job-listing service. 
National Association of Science Writers (NASW)
The National Association of Science Writers is the largest organization devoted to the professional interests of journalistic science writers. Membership requires a portfolio submission and sponsorship by NASW members. 
STC Consulting and Independent Contracting SIG
The CIC SIG serves as a focal point for information about practicing technical communication as an independent contractor or consultant. It helps both new and seasoned independents practice their trade more effectively.
