UUX Elections

By Karen Bachmann, UUX Manager

The Usability and User Experience (UUX) elections are coming. This represents a new phase of the community that started with re-chartering. A lot has happened in the STC as a whole during that time. A new executive director, many new office staff, and some significant increases and improvements in the services available to communities make this an exciting time to be involved in STC leadership, especially within the growing virtual communities.

UUX will be seeking three elected officers for our first elections: manager, assistant manager, and treasurer.

  • The manager serves as the principle community contact and for supporting other volunteers in conducting community business.
  • The assistant manager assists the manager as well as coordinates community activities at the STC annual conference and attends, and keeps minutes for community meetings.
  • The treasurer maintains detailed records of community income and expenses, and reports on finances.

Each of these roles is described in greater detail in the call for nominations that will be sent by email to all members by the mid-February.

In accord with the STC bylaws, elected officers must be members of STC and UUX. If you are interested in running for office and have not yet renewed your STC membership and membership in UUX, renew by mid-March when the ballot is finalized. Elections will be held electronically, and UUX members will be eligible to vote.

Again, this is an exciting time to be a volunteer leader. Contributing to your professional community always gives back much more than you ever expect. This has been true with every role I have been privileged to serve in STC at the community and Society levels. I encourage you to consider running for UUX office and help our community grow and expand.
