Editorial By David Dick, Editor Sherri Martin needed some time away from the Editor's Desk, and asked me to fill-in for her during her absence. I look forward to her return. This year, the Society's Fellow Nomination Committee bestowed the title Fellow to me. I am recognized for my contributions to community, business, and to the Society (Chapters and SIG). Thank you. A Fellow is recognized for eminence in the field of Technical Communication-that's a strong definition. Are you sure you have the right guy? Now I have a situation: what happens when you have done it all? Should I bungee jump off a bridge? Should I parachute from a high-flying plane? Should I sign-up for a flight to the International Space Station and spend a day with astronauts? Alice Preston, UUX Manager, may have answered my question. Alice thinks that when we have done it all, we should mentor our successors; a next generation of Technical Communicators. Maybe that's why we are here: to keep the SIG alive so that you can benefit from the wisdom of our renowned members; the list is too long to mention them here-you are one of them We look forward to the day when you will be our successors. Volunteer. |
